Ash & Oil came to exist out of an earnest desire to create wholesome products for our growing family. Owning and operating a small farm has allowed us to explore the possibilities of free enterprise. It has been both challenging and rewarding as we have grown in more knowledge and understanding of husbandry. After much study and experimenting, we formulated a unique line of products that offer tremendous benefits for your overall health. Knowing the individual herbs, their properties and qualities and taking the time to infuse these botanicals indeed creates extraordinary products. Each product batch is made with our herb infused goat milk; which maximizes the nutrient rich formula and is guaranteed to cleanse, condition and nourish your skin.
The maintenance and care of our goats has proven to be one of the most educational in our endeavors. Our goats have been more regarded as family pets than livestock. One of our favorites, a LaMancha doe, taught the family a valuable lesson. Actually, the name of our company, Ash&Oil, was inspired by a lesson learned from this little one; how God’s grace toward us is unfailing. The Scriptures state in Isaiah 61:3, “ To give unto them beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning.” Several years ago, one of our little La Mancha kids got herself into a desperate situation. One summer day, our inquisitive little doe decided to step outside her safe border and investigate the property line where she found herself in a most challenging situation. It just so happened, the previous owner had discarded a rusty, old, 50 gallon drum, containing sticky tar. Unfortunately, she decided to hop in the drum. When we found her, she was “tarred” beyond description. It was obvious, there was no easy solution to fixing the problem. Her precarious notions had led her from a safe haven to a dreadful situation. Thankfully, for her sake, she was administered kind treatment. After hours of bathing in gallons of mineral spirits and conditioning shampoo; along with tender hands of care, she survived the ordeal; 10 years later, she lives a happy, healthy goat life.
This story expresses the heart of human compassion offered to one of God’s little creatures. He has placed within each of us the spirit of kindness and a desire to care for those less fortunate; even a little animal. How much more does He care for the soul of His own image? It is our testimony that God is no respecter of persons. He is willing to take any life and transform it into something beautiful. Man looks on the outside but God looks on the inside. He can take a willing soul; burn away lies and refine the mind to receive His countenance of beauty. This inward beauty reflects the true heart of the loving Father, God.
